Masum-Day One

We left UIA Gombak around 1.30 a.m and reached USM Penang around 7 a.m...19th May...
Therfore Day One:19th May.

We were free the whole day, our first scheduled match against UNiten (University Tenaga Nasional) was on 20th May...so basically we slept till like 4 pm..after an exhausting bus ride...where its nearly impossible to sleep...
Anywayz...i took a few pics on a day where we had Team Meetings, discussing the team formations..and batting and bowling line-ups...

After which we went for dinner..and then the cyber cafe...where mirza and i played NFS Underground...and i think i beat him like 5 times in a row...yet he wasnt satisfied...ahahaha...atleast there was a cafe..where we could waste time...

MASUM

MASUM Games
They are the Inter-university games held here every year..this year USM (University Science Malaysia) was the host...and we were there from 18th-24th may...and we didnt come back empty handed...ohh..ya..the defending champions successfully defended the Gold..and we brought Gold home..the only contingent to do so in our University...

It was a week away from classes..and it was well worth it..ohh god..it was a lot of fun...ok..the total pictures taken were 1183, yes this after i had edited and deleted nearly 200 pics...

So please guyz..you will have to bear with me..as i will post the pics slowly...i think i will post them chronologically...

Day of the departure..around Magrhib..(Sunset)...
i had to post this one.as i think its one of my best captures...the colours are just unreal..and i havent touched the photo at all..no editing..at all..

So Departure from University was on the 18th May..(scheduled 11.30 p.m)...but we left at 1.00a.m...as usual late...

All Ready to go...

Well... it looks like we know where the team's allowance went...

So..whats up?..Bernoulli, Cranks and Cricket...

In order...
Bernoulli...
well to those remember thier physics in A levels...would remember the Bernoulli theorem...basically an energy equation..anywayz i wont go into details...
Well our Wind Tunnel is up and running tests these days...they are busy calibrating the wind tunnel..and are working 9 -5 daily...
These guyz are behind schedule..as we had a problem...as the motor to the fan burnt..ya..its a huge fan..
This Wind Tunnel is huge...though it will be used for Low Speed testing..around 50 m/s...the reason its so huge..is that the ratio cross-sectional area of the testing section to the cross section of the rest has to be 1:9...so the rest of it is 9 times bigger...

Pics will do the talking>>
The Testing Section. Calibrating the Pressure Points...

Massive...thats what comes to my mind..

And finally..
Cricket:
Well this was our 4th match in the League...and alhamdullilah we won this one..so we have won 2 and lost 2...and have another to play...inshallah we have a chance of moving to the next round if we win the next match...
Well i was rested for this one..and hopefully i will play the next one...the next league match is going to be after the MASUM Games..they are Inter-University Games held between Varsities in Malaysia..and i was selected in the squad for the Tournament...
We are leaving on the night of the 18th...and i will be missing a week of classes..and a midterm..(which will be replaced obviously)...we will be back on the night of 25th..
will be takin the camera along..so will update it once i am back...

In the footsteps of legends

Kinrara Oval
The 3 greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting...All had a taste of Kinrara oval..Ponting and Tendulkar with thier sixes..and Lara with his clever cuts...and now the chance was ours...to be in the same dressing rooms..where they might have changed..and left thier stench..and rotten socks...in the same toilets where they shat (Past Tense for Shit).

This was our third League match...and we needed to win this badly...as we had lost the first 2..for this match i got selected in the top 11.which meant i had a chance to play..thank the heavens...after winning the toss, we chose to bat..and after a good start for the first 5 overs..we collapsed...3 quick wickets...and we were on the back foot...i think by the time my turn came..we were 56 for 5...and i think it was over no. 11....i walked in with my legs trembling..to tell u the truth..i havent been playing well at all..in the past few games..well the past few games was like 2 months ago...

anywayz..i was on the pitch with Hashim..and he just told me to hang on to one side..and we can take the game to them...well He did take the game to them..and i felt much better on my side...that man eventually hit 69 on 67 balls..with 4 Fours..and 5 Sixes!!...yes 5 Sixes..each one better than the other...

We had a long partnership..he was the main contributor...alas i fell...but it was an error made by the umpire...i was NOT OUT...i had nicked the ball which had eventually hit my pads..and he gave an LBW (leg before wicket) for that...i couldnt believe it..but from 56..we had made it to 117...well it was a good time out there..later i checked the scoreboard to see that i had spent 41 minutes there...and making a measely 9 runs...

I know...personal gains are not important....i was there for the team by not losing my wicket....hopefully this experience will better my confidence in future games..inshallah...

lets get on with the pics will yeah..
The magnificent scenery..

Rilmy dropped...

The view from my lap...hahaha

The view you get the moment u enter...

No Spikes please..

Check out the rims on the buggy

Now..how do we drive this again...?

The pavillion

Edited:(i didnt finish..)
Well we set a target of 181 finally...and they started to chase well...they were 70/1 and had enough overs to see the chequered flag...but the domino effect needed just a single push...and one single wicket after another...and 9 wickets fell in the space of 60 runs...they were demolished by our bowling attack..and fielding was top drawer...i think we won by 33runs...but hell yeah we won.

Edited Further..it seems i have too much to say...yes as most of u know..i do talk a lot..and have a hard time...shutting up..so now i will Shut my trap..

TOKITSUMUGI

"The Grain of Strands From some Moments"
I am guessing thats what Tokitsumugi means, as it happens to be the title of an Art Exhibition in Galeri Petronas (KLCC). It was an Exhibition of Kinetic Sculptures by a japanese guy named Masato Tanaka...

I have to say i was impressed by his kinetic sculputres..as they had flawless and jerkless movements...the majority of them had a driving motor which was pre-programmed using a disc with "taped codes"...so when the light sensors detected these "codes"..the motor drived the main shaft...but the rest of the arms..were not controlled by motor.but by gravity...and counter-weights..

It was the movements of their arms which captured my attention..he must have those counter-weights worked out to the nearest milligram...they were all "handmade"...very well machined parts...
Sadly they dont allow any cameras in the main gallery..but one of his exhibts was on the entrance..we were allowed to take photos of that...
Here are the Titles to his exhibts...(just read the names...)

  1. Bookmark of the Wind
  2. Untie the Sound
  3. Each one (So one by One)
  4. Connecting the Souds of Stars Twinkling
  5. Some Songs from the waves
  6. Before it drops from you hands
  7. Windly Muddler
  8. Even While you blink
  9. Sink in the Sky-about waiting for the tide
  10. The Tail of the wind rounded in my pocket
  11. Wind Drinker
  12. Walking as Counting the Wind

So as you can see it looks more like an album of songs...well its art..its supposed to be like that...
I bet you are all wondering what the hell was i doing in an Art gallery...and that too in KLCC...well i saw the gallery on the way to the cinema...and at first i noticed that they were holding an exhibition on Photojournalism..which records the Malaysia from the time of Independence...so by chance i saw this Jap guyz work..which definetely overshadowed the photojournalism exhibits...

War of the worlds??

This machine was one of the exceptions where the inventor didnt use the "Code Disc" to control the main motor...
